In the skies of this Caribbean world, Poseidon-cursed sirens fly on Persephone-blessed wings and yearn for a life where men no longer control their fate. If their song fails to lure a mate, they sink beneath the waves to become bloodthirsty mermaids. The few who escape their curse and become siren wives are often distrusted as lying temptresses, despite the good luck their wings bestow.
As murders rise, old prejudices become new persecution. Poseidon’s faithful turn on the sirens, blaming them for the deaths—and perhaps taking their cue from Poseidon himself.
Only Barth, a man forever cursed with bad luck, can prove the sirens’ innocence. The World:

The Allies:
The goddess-blessed sirens of this world are gifted with mixed fortunes in their wings. If a man saves a siren from her mermaid curse, she gifts him with a feather of good fortune. If a man dares harm a siren, he is forever cursed with misfortune. Barth – a man forever cursed with bad luck – knows this well. But only Barth might be able to save the sirens and prove their innocence.
The Enemies:
Poseidon’s faithful human followers have been prejudice against the sirens since before their peoples fled across the ocean in search of a New World. Now, following Poseidon’s lead, their hatred might turn to violence. A conniving captain is the only man profiting from this tension, and a self-righteous widow at his side will stop at nothing to see the sirens destroyed.
The Assassi:
A god protecting these islands wields Poseidon’s curse. When the islanders’ worship wanes, he once again makes himself needed by murdering hated sirens and leaving their cursed bodies on the beaches. He protects men on the seas. He targets Poseidon-cursed sirens. But is this Poseidon? Or is he a lesser god posing as the Sea God? Either way, sirens will die by his hand if he isn’t exposed as the real enemy.
